TRAVEL SAFELY BY BOAT (TSBB)
The goals and purposes of the Travel Safely by Boat (TSbB) training standard are designed to guarantee that all individuals commuting or transferring via boat to offshore work locations attain the following:
- Knowledge about the potential hazards they may encounter and the measures in place to mitigate them.
- Familiarity with crucial safety protocols to follow and how to respond in emergency situations.
- Heightened personal dedication to safety.
- Proficient utilization of personal safety gear.
- Practical application and display of the correct procedure for boat transfers (including simulated boat deck and installation scenarios).
PRE REQUISITE
No prerequisites
Participants who hold a valid BOSIET, FOET, Tropical BOSIET, Tropical FOET, BOSIET (with CA-EBS), or FOET (with CA-EBS) certification are exempt from the necessity to engage in hands-on life raft and in-water sea survival drills.
MANDATORY MEDICAL EVALUATION
This course may involve physically strenuous and potentially challenging components during training and/or assessments. All individuals engaging in these activities must possess the necessary physical and mental fitness to fully participate.
Curriculum
- Wearing the suitable flotation gear utilized during boat transfers, such as a work vest.
- Executing a transfer between a simulated boat deck and a simulated stationary installation deck using swing rope transfers, including the transfer of luggage.
In order to successfully finish this training, participants need to be capable of showcasing:
- Procedures for preparing in the event of a boat emergency.
- Procedures to follow in the case of abandonment.
- Survival techniques to employ after an abandonment.
