TROPICAL BASIC OFFSHORE SAFETY INDUCTION & EMERGENCY TRAINING (T-BOSIET)
The aim of the T-BOSIET is to introduce delegates to the specific safety issues and regimes relevant to offshore installations, and to equip them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for travelling to and from offshore installations by helicopter in a tropical environment.
What You'll Learn
- Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas installations
- Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts
- Demonstrate, in a simulated environment
- Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques
- Learn to use basic firefighting equipment, and practise self rescue techniques in low visibility situations, to include smoke filled areas.
Curriculum
In this module, delegates learn to identify offshore hazards, assess associated risks, understand safety regulations, manage safety, handle medicines, adhere to substance abuse policies, follow PPE requirements, report incidents, and understand the role of the Offshore Medic in ensuring offshore safety.
In this module, focuses on delegates demonstrating essential skills such as wearing aviation lifejackets, preparing for helicopter emergencies, evacuating from various emergency situations, assisting others in liferaft procedures, and performing underwater escapes. These skills are crucial for ensuring safety during helicopter operations.
In this module delegates must demonstrate skills such as wearing a lifejacket, boarding survival crafts correctly, using helicopter rescue devices, entering the water safely, mastering sea survival techniques, boarding marine liferafts, and providing immediate first aid. These skills are vital for sea survival and safety.
In Module 4, "Firefighting and Self Rescue," delegates must demonstrate the correct use of portable fire extinguishers for different fire classes. They also need to exhibit self-rescue techniques using a smoke hood or partial blindfold in areas with reduced or completely obscured visibility, both individually and in small groups.
