Prerequisites

Delegates completing an OPITO OERTL training course must hold: A valid and in-date OPITO OERTM certificate OR OPITO OERTM Further certificate

What You'll Learn

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the primary responsibilities and core priorities inherent to the role of an emergency response team leader.
  • Delegate tasks to offshore emergency response team members (OERTMs) with precision and efficiency.
  • Exhibit clear and confident communication skills when interacting with relevant emergency response personnel and when leading OERTMs.
  • Provide direction to OERTMs for their safe entry into an incident area and continually assess how evolving emergency conditions may impact the team members’ safety.
  • Conduct ongoing dynamic risk assessments throughout the course of an incident.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of stress in individual OERTMs during emergency situations.
  • Competently oversee the management of breathing apparatus (BA) control.
  • Effectively lead an OERTM during various scenarios, encompassing non-fire incidents and firefighting operations.
  • Execute missing persons and casualty management procedures proficiently in the context of an emergency.
