What You'll Learn

  • Select and deploy the appropriate firefighting equipment and extinguishing agents for different fire types while ensuring the area’s safety.
  • Execute the prescribed procedures for managing breathing apparatus control boards.
  • Identify and don the suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) required for an OERTM during an emergency response.
  • Operate, don, and conduct wearer checks on extended-duration breathing apparatus.
  • Engage in an incident briefing session.
  • Actively participate in a variety of incidents, both fire-related and non-fire-related, under the guidance of an offshore emergency response team leader (OERTL).
  • Properly choose and utilize portable firefighting equipment.
  • Select, operate, and flush foam firefighting equipment efficiently.
  • Maintain effective communication with OERTLs and fellow OERTMs throughout an incident.
  • Demonstrate essential considerations and actions when entering and working within an incident zone.
  • Exhibit correct search and rescue procedures and techniques.
  • Demonstrate the precise steps involved in initial casualty assessment and recovery.
  • Engage in a post-incident debriefing session.
